Pat the Bunny

We have a myriad of creatures which have taken up residence in our neighborhood; squirrels, deer, birds, rabbits and all sorts of horrible buzzy things. In our teeny front yard we have a bird's nest with a mama bird keeping watch over her little babies and a toad who likes to camp out by our front door. I'm always terrified that as I walk up the front step, the toad will LEAP out and land on my foot.

Our backyard seems to be home to two types of creatures. The first are some truly scary ground hornets, or as I like to call them, Big Ass Hornets (BAH). These are terrifying, more so than the thought of the Foot Leaping Toad (FLT?). We've taken to walking around all of the townhouses to get to our garage or waiting until nighttime when the BAH seem to go into their hidey-holes and plot out ways to scare the bejeezus out of us the following day. This morning Tony opened the back door and a BAH looked up and made a beeline (haha) right for him. Tony yelped and slammed the back door. He heard a slight thud and ........ we found the body of the BAH this evening as we made the frightening trip from the garage to our back door.

The second creature we spotted today was much cuter than Big Ass Hornets. As we opened the garage door and peeked into the backyard, we saw this little guy right by the back step:

Unfortunately the sun was shining brightly so I wasn't able to get a good picture. The Little, Brown Bunny (LBB?) was gracious enough to stand still and let me try to get a few pictures before he ran off under our fence. How cute is he???

P.S. Do ask Tony about the Fruity Hornet Dance (FHD?) he did to get from the garage to the back door as quickly as possible without riling up those scary insects. He won't admit to it, but I think he also squealed in terror.
